Our new melt-in-the-mouth Jamón Iberico Bellota comes from acorn-fed pigs that roam freely throughout the region of Jerez de los Caballeros, Extremadura, (D.O. Guijuelo) home to centuries-old oak trees that yield some of the world's sweetest acorns. This Jamón is produced from a family business, the oldest company in Jerez de los Caballeros dedicated to the production of hams and charcuterie. The flavour and aroma of this Jamón Iberico Bellota is probably the best we have ever tried and was an easy choice to make after several blind tastings. We hope you enjoy our careful selection.
More information: This wonderful combination of diet and exercise, along with expert dry-curing, creates what many connoisseurs describe as the finest (and healthiest) ham in the world, the healthiest, due to the type of fat (mono-unsaturated) that you'll find glistening on both sides of the jamon. The fat of the acorn-fed Iberian pig contains more than 55% of oleic acid - only virgin olive oil has a higher content of oleic acid. The total amount of unsaturated fatty acids in the fat of acorn-fed Iberian cured ham products is over 75%, which means they contain the healthiest type of fat for the heart of all known animal fats and even healthier than some vegetable fats. Iberian ham is also rich in proteins, vitamins B1, B6, B12, folic acid and also vitamin E.
